Most travelers will require answers to some basic questions. We will try to anticipate these below:
Almost PERFECT!
*We have one of the most favorable climates in the world. Year round averages - 80-85 high and 65-70 lows. Most guests will be able to swim year round.
*Most rainfall occurs between June and September - usually as night time thundershowers.
*For more moderate temperatures, visit from November to June. Villa Reyes has whole house air conditioning for judicious use on the warmer days.
All Playa Las Tortugas rentals have air conditioned bedrooms. Currently, only Villa Reyes has air conditioned living spaces (kitchen / living room, dining room). Because our community is eco-friendly, guests are asked to limit the use of air conditioning to save eneregy.
Volunteers can help with conservation efforts from late July through at least early January each year.
There is a phone available in the office of our on-site Property Manager (Gabriel). You can leave that number for your friends or relatives to use in an emergency. For more information contact: gabriel@playalastortugas.com
Free WiFi is provided. Skype works well from Villa Reyes.
Therapeutic massage is available on the rooftop terrace or even on the beach. Child care is available from 8AM to 4PM (600 pesos - $50). Arrange these services via Gabriel.
The tap water from our deep wells is completely safe for brushing teeth, washing dishes and vegetables. However, the taste is a bit salty. We have a dispenser with purified bottled water for drinking and this is replenished by our staff.
We are located in a remote, tropical, natural setting that sometimes has "no-see-ums" and mosquitos. When these become a problem, the ground crews will use lawn tractors to dispense a chrysanthemum based, environmentally friendly product during the early morning hours. In addition, guests are encourgaed to buy repellents and sunscreen when they stop at Mega Supermarket or WalMart near the airport.
1. Sun exposure is probably more intense in Tortugas than at your home. Please use sunscreen.
2. Our beach is wonderful for swimming and waves are great for surfing and boogie boarding. Caution is always recommended in the ocean - especially at high tide when it is changing to an out-going tide. Tide information is available at Gabriel's office and on the Internet .
3. Try to avoid driving at night. Livestock sometimes roam the roads and this is a special hazard at night.
The washer and dryer in Villa Reyes is operated by the housekeeping staff. Simply give laundry to the housekeeper and she will take care of it.
Villa Reyes is on Mountain Time. However, the airport in Puerto Vallarta is on Central Time. When you prepare to depart, it is important to remember that Puerto Vallarta is an hour later than Playa Las Tortugas.
